Gracious God, open our hearts to your word this day. Light our paths with the brightness of your love and wisdom. Guide us as we seek to walk in your ways and grow in your truth. Accept our offerings of praise, that our songs and our words be transformed into your songs, and your words. Make us beautiful and humble, God, to bear the good news of your peace. In Christ’s name we pray. Amen.

Prayer of Confession:
Too often Lord we make fall short of your glory. Heal us, O God. Help us to receive love from others especially when we least expect it. Help us to focus on what we have now, rather than what we left behind to follow Jesus. When we feel like strangers, welcome us into your loving embrace. When we ignore the stranger, give us the courage to reach out and to be a friend of Christ to them. We ask these things in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
